Why WarBall LARP SRJC?
LARP and Cosplay are very popular for the college age groups, with the current generation having grown up with iconic Super Heroes.
WLC SRJC presents LARP Avengers, and ancient warriors but in a format that is designed from its inception to be the safest possible experience. Every single component of the sport is geared to eliminate hazards and minimize risks found elsewhere.
“So innovative even ball itself is a defensive safety weapon to deflect or soften strikes and throw downs”
Our club is part of Santa Rosa Junior College’s ICC (Inter Club Council) group of student led clubs authorized by the college to meet, have events, and promote its activities for the benefit of all students. There are several sports related clubs such as wrestling, judo and boxing. WarBall LARP is active but play is pending confirmation of its safety guidelines.
The WarBall LARP SRJC was founded to create a live-action role-playing experience where participant safety is a primary consideration in the design of the game. Every aspect of WarBall—from its rules and equipment standards to its style of play—is intended to encourage responsible participation while delivering an exciting and immersive Super Hero and medieval-inspired adventure.
It may add Cosplay as concurrent with its events, allowing non playing students to dress in costumes that inspire them. Cosplay is very popular with college age groups and would add greatly to the club’s vibe of fun and respectful game play.
Unlike many contact activities, WarBall’s rules are designed to eliminate actions that commonly contribute to head and knee injuries and use of force beyond what is necessary is prohibited.
Unlike most if not all LARP events, gameplay emphasizes:
- Controlled participant interaction based on safety rules from another sport with 100 plus years of validation
- Clearly defined rules that prohibit contact to the head or body without a previous action that reduces the force of impacts
- Protective equipment that is targeted instead of a player’s body
- Trained officials who monitor play and enforce safety standards throughout every event
